Technology Can Do Amazing Things for Your Smile
Once upon a time, people who needed complex dental procedures had to endure mouthfuls of goop to make impressions, dentists trying to see into the mouth with mirrors held at strange angles, and invasive treatments that took many appointments. Comprehensive Family Dental would love to show you just how much things have changed for the better!
We can’t wait to meet you and your family. Call today and book your appointment!
Highly detailed CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) imaging obtains large number of high-quality 3D views of a patient’s teeth and bite, allowing for precision diagnosis and treatment of implants, airway analysis, TMJ treatment, orthodontics, restorative dentistry procedures, and more. The detail these machines can produce allows bone and tissue to be evaluated at the same time, which assists us in bringing you the most accurate dentistry available.
Digital x-rays are far more accurate than film x-rays once were. They have the ability to capture more detail, detecting minor issues earlier so treatment can be more proactive sooner. They are safe, quick, convenient, and can be taken and viewed right from the dental chair, so patients can evaluate them right along with your Victoria dentists and the Comprehensive Family Dental team.
Lasers can eliminate the need to use a dental drill, and not one single person has ever told us they missed hearing that sound! Less noise means less anxiety for many of our patients.
Some of the other things dental lasers can assist with are:
Intraoral cameras allow easy doctor-patient communication to assess, diagnose, and treat dental issues. With a clear view of what we see as we see it and no need to leave the dental chair, increased understanding and comfort is a given with these valuable tools. Not only will you be able to see what we’re talking about, the treatment plans we recommend will make a lot more sense.
Air abrasion is another tool that alleviates the need for a dental drill, removing decay from teeth the way a sandblaster removes paint from walls. Air abrasion is also useful for preparing cavities for filling, detection of pits and fissures to assist with bonding and sealant procedures, and removal of enamel stains from the surface of teeth prior to placement of crowns, veneers, or fillings.
CEREC technology allows us to custom-fabricate crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, and onlays in just one appointment without ever leaving the office, eliminating the need for messy putty or temporary crowns. CEREC uses 3-D technology to create digital models for the restoration to be fabricated and customized.
Constructed of metal-free materials, CEREC restorations are created to the exact specifications for your individual need—down to a color match with the rest of your smile.
Cold Laser TMJ therapy has the capability to alleviate acute TMJ pain. It uses low-level laser light that stimulates healing, reducing pain signals without tissue damage. The cold laser does not cut or burn and is not painful to use—in fact, it typically stops the pain. We can use it not only on the TMJ joint, but any and all associated muscles that are painfully involved with the TMJ symptoms.
We cannot claim an injection is painless—any injection will have some sensation attached—but we’re pretty sure you will barely feel the ones you get at Comprehensive Family Dental! Many people don’t realize this, but most of the discomfort an injection causes comes from the anesthetic entering the tissue rather than the needle stick itself. The injections we use balance out the pH to make the process gentler chemically—we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible.
Technology hasn’t just improved the clinical procedures we perform or the machines we use in the dental office. It’s also had a hand in elevating the effect the products to help you keep your teeth looking and feeling their best in your everyday life can have. Comprehensive Family Dental carries products by Philips® Sonicare and WaterPik® to help you get your teeth as clean as they can possibly be and keep your oral hygiene routine on point.
